L'homme ouvre la porte sans répondre; il entre. Cet homme est Jérôme Barberin. Il a l'air méchant. Il embrasse sa femme, mais il n'embrasse pas l'enfant. Évidemment il n'est pas content de retrouver Remi dans la maison.
—La place de cet enfant n'est pas ici, dit-il durement. Ses parents ne le réclament pas, sa place est à l'hospice.

INDICATIF PRÉSENT
Parler, to speak
Singulier { je parle français, I speak French. tu parles français, thou speakest French (you speak French). il parle français, he speaks French. elle parle français, she speaks French.
Pluriel { nous parlons français, we speak French. vous parlez français, you speak French. ils parlent français, they speak French. elles parlent français, they speak French.
1. Je parle français est en anglais I speak French et aussi I am speaking French et I do speak French.
2. Il parle français est en anglais he speaks French et aussi he is speaking French et he does speak French, etc.
3. La terminaison de l'infinitif parler est er. Beaucoup de verbes ont la même terminaison.
4. Nous employons aussi vous parlez pour la deuxième personne du singulier. Nous employons la forme tu parles seulement dans un style très familier.
V. Thème
We knock at the door of the little house. Some time after a man opens the door. We enter. We kiss the good nurse but we do not speak to the man. He speaks harshly. We ask for little Remi. "He is not here," says the woman who is evidently not happy to find the parents of the child.
