Reading edition

Enter Agamemnon, Ajax, Menelaus, Nestor, Diomedes, and the rest, marching. Shouts within.[2418]

Agam. Hark! hark! what shout is that?[2419][2420] Nest. Peace, drums![2419] [Within] 'Achilles! Achilles! Hector's slain! Achilles!'[2419][2421] Dio. The bruit is, Hector's slain, and by Achilles.[2422] Ajax. If it be so, yet bragless let it be; 5 Great Hector was a man as good as he.[2423] Agam. March patiently along: let one be sent[2424] To pray Achilles see us at our tent. If in his death the gods have us befriended, Great Troy is ours, and our sharp wars are ended. 10

[Exeunt, marching.[2425]
