MY FRIEND.
Reading edition
ho is my friend? Not he who seeks By flattery to sway; Who, whether I be good or bad, Gives me his praise alway. Who is my friend? Not he who frowns On me when I am wrong, But never gives encouragement To make me glad and strong. Who is my friend? 'Tis he who makes My highest good his aim; Whose love sincere is shown alike In praise or wholesome blame.
