DIRECTIONS.
Make a chain of the required length.
1st row.—4 ch.st., 3 t. in last st. of foundation chain, 2 ch.st., 3 t. in same ch.st., * 6 ch.st., miss 8, 3 t., 3 ch.st., 3 t. in 9th *; repeat to the end of row; turn with 2 cl.ch.st. in last 2 t.
2d row.—2 ch.st., 4 t., 2 ch.st., 4 t. around next ch. of 2, separating the two 3 t. of last row, * 7 ch.st., 4 t., 2 ch.st., 4 t. around next 2 ch.st. *; repeat to end of row; turn with 3 cl.ch.st. in last 3 t.
3d row.—5 t., 3 ch.st., 5 t. around next chain of 2, * 7 ch.st., 5 t., 3 ch.st., 5 t. around next ch. of 3 *; repeat to end of row. Turn, with 4 cl.ch.st. in last 4 t.
4th row.—2 ch.st., 6 t., 3 ch.st., 6 t. around next chain of 3, * 4 ch.st., fasten in the middle of the chains of two preceding rows, 3 ch.st., 6 t., 3 ch.st., 6 t. around next ch. of 3 *; repeat to end of row. Turn, with 3 cl.ch.st.
5th row.—1 ch.st., 11 t. around next ch. of 3, * 4 ch.st., 11 t. around next ch. of 3 *; repeat to end of row. Turn.
6th row.—3 ch.st., miss 1 t., 1 d.c., followed by 1 ch.st. in each of next 9 t., * 1 s.c. in last t. of scallop, 4 cl.ch.st. in next 4 ch.st., 1 s.c. in next t., 1 d.c., followed by 1 ch.st. in each of next 9 t. *; repeat to end of row.
Heading.—1 s.c. in each st. of foundation chain. Turn.
2d row.—3 ch.st., fasten in every other s.c. of last row. Turn.
3d row.—*3 ch.st., fasten in middle stitch of chain of 3 of last row *; repeat to end of row. Turn, with 1 ch.st.
4th row.—1 s.c. in every stitch of last row.
5th row.—1 ch.st., 1 d.c., 1 ch.st., 1 d.c., 1 ch.st., 1 d.c., all worked in next 2d st. of last row, 1 ch.st., miss next s.c., 1 s.c. in next s.c. *; repeat to end of row.
