I. ALLEMAN.

II. INGLEZA.

Oh! If my beloved[41] would come, The before seen, if he would appear; Instantly I should press a kiss on his mouth,[42] Even though it (the mouth) were stained with the blood of a wolf.[43] His hand I should at the same time warmly (cordially) seize,[44] Even though a snake wound round his fingers! Oh! if the wind had understanding,[45] The fresh zephyrs of the spring, if they were capable of speech: A word they would bring hither,[46] a word they would return, With intelligence they would quickly hasten[47] Between two lovers.— I should sooner give up the nicest dishes[48], Forget rather the roast-meat on the priest’s table[49] Than I forsake my dear beloved, Him, whom in the summer I made attached to me,[50] Him, whom in the winter I captivated.[51]

III. LATINA

O, si ille familiaris meus veniret, Antea visus mihi appareret! Statim ei os porrigerem,[52] Etiamsi esset (os) lupi cruore maculatum.[53] Manum ejus calide[54] premerem, Etiamsi anguis digitos cingeret.[55] O! si ventus esset mente praeditus,[56] Si flamen[57] veris alacre[58] linguae esset potens; Verbum huc ferret, verbum referret,[59] Nuntium vicissim motu ageret[60] Inter duos amantes.— Rejiciam potius lautissimas cupedias, Quin carnis assae de mensa presbyteri[61] obliviscar, Quam meum ex corde amatum deseram; Quem aestate mihi deditum reddidi,[62] Quem hieme satis mansuefeci.[63]

IV. FRANCEZA.
