Note 96 — APPENDIX III.

Reading edition

Probably from Goba, the meeting (scil. of waters), Gobwen (corrupted to Govind) meaning the great meeting. Ganana is supposed to mean division or bifurcation. Danok is probably a corruption of the Galla Danesha, a settlement on the left bank of the river. I nowhere find my notice of the ‘Irunjba’ village, and presume that it is a corruption of ‘Gobwen.’
