Note 172 — SCENE II.

Reading edition

sign] The editor of 1816 altered this word to “sin.”—According to the directions for bleeding in old almanacs, blood was to be taken from particular parts under particular planets.

“Alen. When is the time to let the weathers blood?

The forward spring that had such store of grasse,

Hath fild them full of ranke vnwholesome blood,

Which must be purg’d, else when the winter comes,

The rot will leaue me nothing but their skinnes.

Fall. Chil let on blood, but yet it is no time,

Vntill the zygne be gone below the hart.”
