The words enclosed within brackets, are supplied from MS. G. They occur in MS. L 4, but neither in L 3, or in MS. 1566. In place of this, on the margin of that MS. we find, as above, "This wes nevir done be this Author;" a remark, which was probably added after Knox's death by his Secretary, or the person who transcribed this portion of the MS.
