Reading edition
The indices of this second edition have been carefully revised, and a considerable number of additions have been made to the lists.
The author begs once more to call attention to the fact that, with one or two exceptions, he has mentioned no pictures that he has not seen. The lists are the result, not of compilation, but of first-hand acquaintance with the works of art.
