Chanamiya.—A sept of Râjputs, not separately recorded in the Census Returns, found in Jaunpur, Azamgarh, and Gorakhpur. They are generally, according to Sir H. M. Elliot,23 included among the Bais of inferior descent, and are sometimes identified with the Gargbans.
