Reading edition

This number of 300 hostages was to be furnished by annuity, as it were; that is to say, fifty every year, until the full payment of the 600,000 florins. The fifty were to be made up “of thirty-two men for the city of Liege, six for the town of Tongres, six for the town of Saint-Tron, and six for the town of Hasselt.” Du Clercq, xv. 129.
