The London pleasure gardens of the eighteenth century

Note 289 — VI SOUTH LONDON GROUP

Reading edition

Walford’s statement (Old and New London, vi. 388) that they adjoined Cuper’s Gardens is not quite accurate. Four strips of land belonging to four different proprietors are marked in the map in Strype’s Stow (1720) as lying between the Belvedere Gardens and Cuper’s Gardens.
