Note 270 — Chapter II · LEARNED LADIES IN ENGLAND FROM 1650 TO 1760 (continued 3)

Reading edition

A full Life of Miss Elstob is much to be desired. In Ballard's Letters, in the Letters of many contemporary antiquaries and Saxon scholars, especially Dr. George Hickes, and in manuscripts at Bulstrode, there must be many further sources of interesting information concerning her life and work. Especially would Mrs. Chapone's letter be a valuable contribution.
