Anatol Fedorovich Koni, a well-known jurist, a member of the Imperial Council and a writer. Became acquainted with Tolstoi in the eighties and wrote recollections of him (see his book, On the Path of Life, Volume II, 1913). He gave Tolstoi the theme for Resurrection (see Note 23).
