This transcription follows the text of the edition published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1925. However, the following words have been changed from the original text to correct what are believed to be unambiguous printing errors.
“recontre” was changed to “rencontre” (Chapter I).
“Your as bad” was changed to “You’re as bad” (Chapter III).
“stood at east” was changed to “stood at ease” (Chapter III).
“awkard” was changed to “awkward” (Chapter IV).
