Gervase, loc. cit., says that all he remembers having read about the Seres are certain verses of Sidonius, which he quotes as follows:
“‘Ergo ubi se mediam solio dedit (sc. Roma), advolat omnis
Terra simul, fert quaeque suos provincia fructus.’
Et post pauca:
‘Ser vellera, thura Sabeus.’”
