THE MEANING
Reading edition
PEACE is not small white flowers Shining on a lawn. Peace is not youths and maidens wedded in their beauty. Peace is not silver sandals of a stainless dawn. Peace is the calm acceptance of heroic duty. War is not bloody standards hung with crape. War is not murdered men and women’s sorrow. War, for our hearts and hands, is but a Shape, That once destroyed, leaves ghost-less the tomorrow.
