Note 129 — Chapter IV · SYMPATHY.

B. G. (Benjamin Guy) Babington translation

This kind of assistance was called the “Grands Secours.” Boursier, Mémoire Théologique sur ce qu’on appelle les Secours violens dans les Convulsions. Paris, 1788. 12mo. Many Convulsionnaires were seized with illness in consequence of this singularly erroneous mode of cure. A Dominican friar died from the effects of it—though accidents of this kind were kept carefully concealed. See Renault (parish priest at Vaux, near Auxerre; obiit, 1796), Le Secourisme détruit dans ses fondemens, 1759. 12mo. and Le Mystère d’Iniquité, 1788. 8vo.
