The Bābur-nāma in English (Memoirs of Bābur)

Note 1365 — SECTION II. KĀBUL666 (continued 4)

Annette Susannah Beveridge translation

This sobriquet might mean “ever a fighter”, or an “argle-bargler”, or a brass shilling (Zenker), or (if written jing-jing) that the man was visaged like the bearded reeding (Scully in Shaw’s Vocabulary). The T̤abaqāt-i-akbarī includes a Mīrak Khān Jang-jang in its list of Akbar’s Commanders.
