Note 486 — Chapter V · LUNAR SUPERSTITIONS AND FESTIVALS
Reading edition
J. Moura, Le royaume de Cambodge, Paris, 1883, i, 321. The Malays of the Malacca Peninsula regard the fourteenth and fifteenth days of each lunar month as unlucky. On these two days no work in the rice fields is allowed, a prohibition which only increases the native tendency to laziness (C. O. Blagden, “Notes on the Folk-lore and Popular Religion of the Malays,” Journal of the Straits Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1896, no. 29, p. 6).
