Note 171 — LECTURE VIII. INSULAR AND LITTORAL PEOPLES.
Reading edition
De Quatrefages found the Australian sub-type of skull reappearing among the Dravidians, and he goes so far as to add, “The affinity of the Australian and Dravidian languages is now universally admitted.” Hist. Gen. des Races Humaines, p. 333. He quotes the authority of Maury; but Fr. Müller thinks the analogies “too weak” to be convincing. (Grundriss der Sprachwissenschaft. Bd. II., s. 95-98.)
