Note 170 — THE P.R.B. JOURNAL, 1849-53
Reading edition
Something has been torn away here. The passage relates to Charles Wells, and his drama of Joseph and his Brethren. The narrator was William Smith Williams, who preceded myself up to November 1850 as art critic to The Spectator, and who, as literary adviser of Messrs. Smith and Elder, secured the publication of Jane Eyre.
