Winchell’s book is an enlargement of an article contributed by him to M’Clintock and Strong’s Cyclopædia of Biblical literature, etc. (vol viii., 1879),—the editors of which, by their foot-notes, showed themselves uneasy under some of his inferences and conclusions, which do not agree with their conservative views.
