There is an interesting anecdote about the town: “Sergeant [Charles W.] Capps and Pvt. [Harold O.] Mottlet of G-3 got some help from a Jap sniper when they were hunting for Alangalang on a situation map. There was a ‘ping’ and they hit the dirt. When they resumed work they found a bullet puncture practically through Alangalang on the map.” 24th Div Opns Rpt Leyte, p. 78. ↑
