Reading edition

The spelling and punctuation of the original have been preserved. A few obvious mistakes—mostly in the short German parts of the text—were corrected after comparison with another edition (1916) and the manuscript from Det Kongelige Bibliotek (www.kb.dk).

p. 9: Der ist mir neunmal lieber[liber]

p. 67: Otte Iversen[Oversen]

p. 67: drei Monate[Monaten] her

p. 68: hörst[hørest] du mich

p. 68: deinen Vater und[og — found as "und" in the manuscript which is the correct German] deine Mutter

p. 68: Unglück[Unglüch]

p. 68: wie ein räudiger[raüdiger] Hund

p. 68: Unglück[Unglüch]

p. 86: Köln[Køln]

p. 88: Otte[Otto]

p. 157: milevide[miievide]

p. 208: 13830961[13830861 both in the original and in the manuscript! However, the correct result is 13830961 and there is no reason in the context that it should not be so. The point is that Carolus can do this quickly and correctly.]

In addition, there were three different spellings of "fór" (Danish for, e.g., "rushed") in the original—even in the manuscript: for, fór, and fo'r, respectively. The majority was written as "for". Thus, the very few other occurrences—all within the last 40 pages of the original—were silently changed into "for".
