The inventor of this story had, there is no doubt, meant it to be as a prophecy for the coming of Mahomed, and that to show that even the Christians themselves had foretold his coming; for all these words which he puts into the mouth of these Christians are the very result of Mahomed’s career, as recorded by the Mahomedan historians.—A.
