A most flattering estimate of this Jesuit is to be found in Herzog’s Real-Encyclopädie für protestantische Theologie, vol. II. (3. edition, 1897), article “Balde”, by List, where it is said that “one always likes to return to the perusal of the lyrics of this God-inspired man.”
