Just as Dante asks of Matilda (Purg. XXXII, 85) “Ov’è Beatrice?”, so the Moslem bridegroom asks of the handmaidens, “Where is the large-eyed maiden?” Compare also the promise by the bride, that they will shortly meet in heaven, with the words of Beatrice to Dante (Purg., XXXII, 100).
