Note 292 — Capitolo Decimoprimo. DA LONDRA A BEZZECCA. [1863-66.]
Reading edition
Il signor Assollant, nel Courrier du Dimanche citato da Bent, pag. 228, op. cit. E lo stesso Bent, dopo aver dato ragione al signor Assollant, soggiungeva: «From first to last Garibaldi’s visit was one long cheer; he was a veritable nine days’ wonder; but beyond good wishes, and addresses from every imaginable town that could squeeze in a word edgeways, Garibaldi got only a few handsful of presents from his immediate admirers, and when he made his second rash attempt on Homo in 1867 he found England no more inclined to help him than if he had remained quietly at home.»
