For a detailed account of the fanatical74 outbreaks in the Māppilla community, which have long disturbed the peace of Malabar from time to time, I must refer the reader to the District Manual and Gazetteer. From these sources, and from the class handbook (Māppillas) for the Indian Army,75 the following note relating to some of the more serious of the numerous outbreaks has been compiled.76
