Suggested by Aubrey as the date of the beginning of the intimacy between Hobbes and Petty. Anthony Wood objects in a note on fol. 50v:—'Dr. Petty was resident in Oxford 1648-49, and left it (if I am not mistaken) 1652.' Aubrey notes:—'Entred, vide p. 8b' (i.e. fol. 37v; supra, p. 336).
