Migula has recently (1896) suggested that the Schizomycetes should be subdivided into Coccaceæ, Bacteriaceæ, Spirillaceæ (spirilla, spirochæta), Chlamydobacteriaceæ (Streptothrix, Crenothrix, Cladothrix), and Beggiatoa.
