Note 7 — Chapter XXI · GEOGRAPHICAL

Reading edition

This demarcation has been adopted by Herrmann Abich, who, however, would include the Karadagh. He speaks of the elevation which may be traced from the neighbourhood of Ardabil in Persia through the volcano of Savalan all the way to the mountains south of Lake Van as the “natural physical frontier between Armenia and Azerbaijan” and as the “southern border chain of Great Armenia.” But he is pressing the word chain a little unduly. See Geologische Forschungen in den kauk. Ländern, Vienna, 1882, part ii., introduction, pp. 10 and 11. ↑
