I have mentioned, that Torone was a temple of the Sun, and also φλεγραια, by which was meant a place of fire, and a light-house. This is not merely theory: for the very tower may be seen upon coins, where it is represented as a Pharos with a blaze of fire at the top. See vol. 2. page 118.
