Note 230 — MISCELLANEOUS MILITARY MEDALS.

Reading edition

A somewhat similar medal was given to the Indian chiefs who had distinguished themselves by their loyalty, at the close of the war between America and England, in 1814. On the obverse is a laureated bust of George III., in the mantle and collar of the garter, with the legend “Georgius III. Dei Gratia, Britannarum Rex. F. D.”; and on the reverse, the Royal Arms, with the date 1814 in the exergue. All these medals are of extreme rarity.
