Note 71 — Chapter III · 1554-1555
Reading edition
We get at this time (October, 1554), whilst the royal couple were at Hampton Court, a glimpse of their life together. “As for newes you shall understand that the King’s and Queen’s Majesties be in helth and merry, whom I did see daunce togethers uppon Sunday night at the Court, where was a brave maskery of cloth of gold and silver apparailed in mariners garments, the chief doer whereof I think was my lord Admiral.”—Francis Yaxley to Sir W. Cecil, Landsdown MSS. (Cotton), vol. iii. 44.
