Pedro Castilla discovered the class of ore called lecheador (chloro-bromide of silver). See Bollaert's Antiquarian and other Researches in Peru, &c. In this work there is a full and interesting account of the province of Tarapaca, and of the nitrate of soda works, and other mineral products of that part of Peru.
