Note 12 — Chapter IX

Reading edition

I think the only book useful to all but the student who goes to Gayangos, Pranzes, and the great work of Owen Jones, is the last-named gentleman’s Hand-book to the Alhambra, Crystal Palace. Of course everyone will carry his Ford; but, with regard to the Alhambra, Mr. Owen Jones’s pamphlet is more explicit and exclusive, and, if mastered, makes the Alhambra ever after familiar and easy of comprehension. We carried it about with us as fondly as we had carried Street’s book about the cathedrals of Burgos and Toledo.
