if they be not yellow, &c.] Lodovico means—it is time for you to be jealous: “Since Citizens wiues fitted their husbands with yellow hose, is not within the memory of man.” Dekker’s Owles Almanacke, 1618, p. 7. The word “yellows” was frequently used for jealousy.
