The abode of Hecate. Enter Hecate] MS. has, “Enter Heccat; and other Witches (with Properties, and Habitts fitting).“—I had originally prefixed to this scene, ”A Cave: Hecate discovered in front of the stage: Stadlin, Hoppo, other witches, and Firestone, in an inner cave, where a caldron is boiling:” but Hecate does not see the caldron; and as we shall presently find that Almachildes (vide p. 268) is on the point of falling into it, before he meets with Hecate, it could not have been placed in an inner cave.
