The Works of John Marston. Volume 3

Note 372 — ACT V.

Reading edition

I have kept this spelling, as it was doubtless used intentionally. Nashe, in his droll abuse of Barnabe Barnes, writes:—“The first of them (which is Barnes) presently upon it, because he would be noted, getting him a strange pair of Babylonian breeches with a codpisse as big as a Bolonian sausage,” &c. (Works, ed. Grosart, iii. 162).
