These lines are a translation by Gabriel Harvey’s younger brother John, of some lines of Petrarch, Son. cliii. They are quoted with two other “lusty hexameters” in a letter of Gabriel Harvey to Spenser. See Grosart’s edition of Gabriel Harvey, i. 89-90.
