Succeeded to the command after Macara’s death. C.B. for Waterloo. Had served in the Pa., and received the gold medal and one clasp for Fuentes d’Onor and Salamanca. A.D.C. to George IV., 1825. H. p. unattached list, 1825; maj.-gen., 1837. K.C.B. and K.C.H. Col.-in-Chf. 73rd Regt. 1845. Killed at the battle of Sobraon, 10th Feb., 1846, at the moment of victory. He had m., 11th April, 1818, Eliza., dau. of J. Macnabb, of Arthurstone, Perth.
