173Afterwards the Hon. Wm. Ogilvy, of Loyal, Perthshire. 4th son of Walter Ogilvy, de jure Earl of Airlie, by Jane, dau. of John Ogilvy, of Murkle. Saw much service in the Pa. Previous to entering the army served in the navy. Capt. 5th Oct., 1815. Exchanged to the Cape Corps. H. p. 1816. His eldest brother, in 1826, was, by Act of Parliament, recognised as Earl of Airlie with the other dignities appertaining to that title. M.P. for St. Andrews and the eastern burghs. D. in April, 1871.
