Some transports reached Antón Lizardo Feb. 27 and notified Conner that Scott was coming (162Conner, Feb. 27). Certain troops, leaving Tampico March 1, arrived at that rendezvous in advance of Scott (139W. B. Campbell to wife, Mar. 6). By sunset on March 5 about seventy sail had appeared there.
