THE KNIGHT FREYDAL Now who would read of pastimes And joyous deeds of pleasure? Let him take up the tournament In all its fullest measure. This did the gallant Freydal In knightly deeds of fame, Thus rendering illustrious The glories of his name. His virtues and his goodness Are manifest to all; His many glorious triumphs At tilt, at masks and ball. Thus were his young days brightened And the sunniest memories shed, The cares of old age lightened By brave records of the dead. (His like will ne’er be seen again.)
