The names of flowers are used because the Todas believe that worms come from eating honey, and the honey has come from flowers. The flowers mentioned belong to four groups;12 (i) those of trees which bear edible fruits; (ii) those from which bees get honey; (iii) those of trees or plants part of which are eaten; (iv) those of trees which give pungent substances like chillies and pepper.
