The Sultanate of Bornu

Note 332 — VI

Philip Askell Benton translation

The only species as yet known in Bornu, the Glossina tachinoides, is found in places on the bushy banks of streams. [Glossina submorsitans, has also been found. The only case of sleeping-sickness so far observed in Bornu was that of a prison warder who was proved to have contracted the disease which proved fatal, at Loko in Nassarawa Province three years before. The case was described by Dr. D. Alexander in the Journal of Tropical Medicine, for 1911.]
