The Proœmium to the pilgrimage of James of Verona (1335) contains a mention of “locus ubi Christus dedit Veronicam, id est faciem.” The Proœmium may be a later interpolation, but it is older than 1420. See “Revue de l’Orient Latin,” III, p. 163.
