The Satires of Juvenal, Persius, Sulpicia, and Lucilius

Note 1965 — BOOK XXX.

Lewis Evans translation

Probably the indignant expostulation of some young man to a Lena. Compare the scene between Argyrippus and Cleæreta, in the Asinaria of Plautus (i., Sc. iii.). Exsultare, "Gestu vel dictu injuriam facere." Non. Gerlach reads deures. The old reading is deaures, which is defensible. Cf. xxvi., Fr. 8, deargentassere.
